Tristar Products Recalls Magnetic Trivet Due to Magnet Ingestion Hazard

Tristar Products, Inc., (“Tristar”), in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is recalling and replacing magnetic trivets which were sold as part of a Copper Chef 10-Piece Cerami-Tech Nonstick Cookware Set. Each set includes an 11” square pot, 11” square glass lid, steamer tray, fry basket, 11” fry pan, square glass press, 9.5” square pot, 9.5” square glass lid, a cookbook, and two magnetic trivets. QVC sold the set and Tristar sold additional trivets separately as replacements. Only the trivets are being recalled. None of the other components of the Copper Chef 10-Piece Cerami-Tech Cookware Set are being recalled.
Tristar is recalling the magnetic trivets because it received one report of a child who swallowed four magnets that dislodged from a trivet. The child is reported to have suffered intestinal perforations and blockage requiring surgeries.
Please stop using the trivets immediately and place them in an area that children cannot access.
Tristar is offering free replacement trivets. The replacement trivets do not have magnets.

Do I have the recalled trivet?

To determine if you have the magnetic trivets, a photographs are provided below. The trivets were imported into the United States by Tristar and sold through QVC Inc. and through Tristar’s website www.copperchef.com.

How do I get the replacement trivets?
Please follow these instructions to obtain free replacement trivets:
1. Using scissors, carefully cut the trivet into four pieces with a magnet in each piece as shown in the photograph below. Do not remove the magnets from the trivets.
2. Either return the trivets with magnets to Tristar via mail or take a photograph of the cut up trivets and request your replacement online or via regular mail.
3. If you will be sending a photograph of the trivets to Tristar, throw the trivet pieces in the trash to prevent others from using them. When disposing of the trivet pieces, wrap them in newspaper to prevent the magnets from sticking to the side of the trash can. Keep children and pets away from the discarded trivet pieces.
4. There are three ways for you to request your replacement trivets:


ONLINE: Register on-line for a replacement via Tristar’s Trivet Recall Portal:www.trivetrecall.com. ( Press “Register” or at top right of page). You will be asked to fill out the Trivet replacement Request form and attach the photo with your submission.

OR

VIA EMAIL: Complete a Trivet Replacement Request Form which can be accessed online at www.trivetrecall.com. ( Press “Register” or at top right of page). Print the form and send the signed completed form and the photograph to customerservice@tristarproductsinc.com.

Subject line: “Magnetic Trivet Recall “

The signed form and photo are required for Tristar to process the request.
